Jamie studied dance starting at age two, and hasn’t sopped dancing since. Her love of creative movement, inspired her first yoga class nearly 14 years ago. As her practice progressed, so did her intellectual curiosity for all things ‘yoga.’ This curiosity led Jamie to the Yoga Shala, where she joined the teacher training program led by Matt Huish. With Matt, she studied shadow yoga, which is a hatha based asana practice inspired by forms of yoga, dance, and martial arts. Her comprehensive two year teacher training, also included the study of anatomy, breath, Sanskrit, and philosophies outlined in The Uphanishads, The Bhagavad Gita, and The Yoga Sutras of Patanjali. Jamie also completed a year long training program led by Tiffany Cruikshank. Tiffany’s Ashtanga/Vinyasa inspired, training program deepened Jamie’s understanding in anatomy, alignment, and various breathing techniques. The training not only inspired a more advance practice, It also inspired healthy dietary and lifestyle habits to support a consistent and intentional practice.
Jamie’s continual commitment to learn and grow as a student, motivates her as a teacher. She encourages students to find their own humbled experience on the mat, and to recognize how that experience relates to life off the mat. She challenges students to meet themselves where they are, and to embrace that space with compassion and intention.
When Jamie is not teaching, she is spending time with family and friends. She enjoys traveling, a variety of outdoor activities, cooking, reading, live music, and of course…dancing.
